Need help creating a cleaning checklist for AirBnb and vacation rentals?

Whether you’re renting your home through Airbnb or planning a family reunion at your vacation property, a cleaning plan is key. Before packing a suitcase or posting an advertisement, your residence must be clean, organized, and ready to be enjoyed. The following is a must-have cleaning solution checklist.

Cleaning Checklist for Your Airbnb or Vacation Home

1. The bathroom

The bathtub, shower, sink and floor tiles are cleaned, sanitized and shined between rental records or vacation stays. The inside and outside of the toilet, under the rim and around the tiles should also be cleaned and sanitized. Don’t forget the mirrors. They will need that glass cleaner shine to make sure the reflections from you or your guests are sharp. Instead of a candle, use a plug-in fragrance. Citrus or floral are the best options for the bathroom. Oh, and don’t forget to replenish the toilet paper.

2. The kitchen

Start with the sink and scrub with a bleach product. Next, clean and polish the taps and knobs. Also, with the garbage disposals, run baking soda and white vinegar through it. Now the refrigerator. Even if it’s empty, clean and sanitize. One tip is to keep a box of baking soda with the top ajar in the refrigerator between stays. Clean and sanitize countertops, also wipe window sills and counter edges. You may need to bring a baking soda toothbrush or grout cleaner to the tile grout. The stove also needs attention. Clean the hood with a degreasing agent, as well as the interior of the stove and the surface of the stove. If the stove has a self-cleaning function, run it as well. The floor needs to be thoroughly swept, especially in the corners, before mopping with a disinfectant floor cleaner. Adding a plug-in fragrance will remove the cleaner smell.

3. The bedroom

Clean sheets and duvet are everything. Vacuum every part of the room, even under the bed. The dryer sheets in the drawers will also smell fresh and clean. Make sure drawer liners are clean and replace if cracked or damaged. You can also add a plug-in fragrance here. Clean clothes are the best option. Do not forget about the closet, you will have to vacuum and ventilate it. A partially open box of baking soda or some dryer sheets in the closet between visits is also key for cool, mold-free cabinets.

4. Living rooms / common spaces

Living rooms, dens, and dining areas need to be vacuumed and / or well swept and mopped between visits. It is also important to dust and clean all wood surfaces with furniture cleaners. Window cleaner on the TV screen or glass cabinet doors is key, as is spraying some cooling cloth on all the furniture cushions. Make sure to check all the light fixtures to make sure the bulbs are working and don’t forget to dust off the lampshades both indoors and outdoors. Vacuum and clean all heater and vents as well.

Once the cleaning checklist is complete, you’ll want to take a tour. Think of it like walking into a new house or hotel room and seeing what it looks like. Careful attention to all rooms will ensure a happy visit to your vacation home with friends and family, as well as happy Airbnb customers who will rate your space after their visit. You will want the best grades at all times!

The best bet for getting top grades and a clean vacation or Airbnb property is to hire a cleaning service. They are not just for permanent homes and offices!
