What is stealing your health?

Many of us know that stress can rob you of the nutrients you need to stay healthy. But stress is just one of the many ways nutrients are robbed from you.

Why do we need nutrients in the first place? Because your body uses them to make healthy cells, digest food, operate your organs, smell, think, breathe, pump your heart, circulate your blood, and move your muscles. Everything you do, conscious or unconscious, voluntary or involuntary, requires nutrients.

What are some of the things that rob you of nutrients?

The stress is great. It deprives you of nutrients because it absorbs them for the fight or flight response. I recently read that your body needs ten times more calcium when under stress. Can you believe this? One of my theories about chronic disease is that you have so few nutrients that your body can’t recover without additional support.

Now, if your digestive system is clogged, you will have malabsorption of nutrients. If you have a history of constipation or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), lack of nutrient absorption can be a major obstacle to healing. Food allergies, whether known or hidden, can also contribute to the digestive system being covered in dirt, preventing proper absorption of vitamins, minerals, etc.

There is another nutrient thief that I have read about recently. What do you think this is? they are parasites.

He wasn’t sure if he really should believe that parasites could be a problem. The article said that 30% of people have parasites and guess what? They steal your nutrients. They use the food you eat to maintain their survival, depriving you of energy and much more.

What else is ruining our nutrient supply? Depleted soils. If there is no zinc in the soil, there can be no zinc in the plants that grow in that soil. (Zinc is a very common deficiency. By the way, zinc helps kill parasites! The pieces are starting to fit together, see? More evidence that good nutrition in general is needed.)

What else do you think is stealing our nutrients? What comes to mind is the way food is transported. In a three week period, as a fruit travels from the tree to the grocery store and to the stomach, that fruit has lost much of its nutritional value. That’s robbing your body of what it needs to function.

Lack of a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, either due to decreased nutrient value early on, decreased supply, or lack of effort on your part to eat 5-9 fruits and vegetables a day, reduces their nutrient intake.

Another modern practice that steals our nutrients is genetically modified foods that are grown for consumption. This is because genetically modified fruits and vegetables are made to grow big, flavorful, and resistant to insects, but they are not made to have higher nutritional value.

With “inherited plants”, your body can recognize these plants in their original form, digest them, and you can better benefit from them.

Supplements that don’t dissolve in your system are also depleting you of nutrients, because if they don’t dissolve, your body can’t use them. They’re also draining your wallet, because if you don’t benefit from them, even if you only paid five dollars for the bottle, you’re wasting that $5.

The other thing that is robbing us of nutrients is fast food, junk food, or highly processed food. Add to this our busy lifestyles, and it’s so easy, sometimes necessary, to eat these things, but it’s not giving us much nutritional value.

When manufacturers take a loaf of bread, strip it of all the B vitamins and put back only three B vitamins, they are starving it of nutrients. Drinking soft drinks and coffee robs us of nutrients. Drinking fruit juice instead of eating the whole fruit robs you of nutrients, not to mention the fact that it removes fiber from your diet.

So all of these factors combining to rob you of nutrients is why I believe ensuring quality supplement absorption is a necessary strategy to regain and maintain your health.
