Which one is the best for you? Desktop vs laptop

Due to our technological advancement in today’s age, people are faced with an endless list of possible options when it comes to purchasing a personal computer. If you are choosing between a laptop and a desktop, you could definitely use this article.

Desk

Advantage:

* Less likely to be stolen or lost. Desktop computers are quite uncomfortable to carry. Thieves are more likely to steal devices that are portable, such as a tablet or laptop.

* Easier to update or repair. It is always easier to add or remove components to a desktop, which makes it very flexible. Components can be replaced when broken.

* More durable … In general, desktop computers last longer than laptops.

* Less expensive. These days, there are plenty of affordable laptops out there, but if you look at the specs, it usually doesn’t match the speed and memory size of a full desktop. There are some really good laptops that are already dual-core and the memory is about 320GB or more, but they are far from cheap.

* The screen resolution of monitors available for desktop computers is higher and much better than that of most portable devices. A high resolution screen can consume a great deal of power. It is not ideal for most laptops to have high resolution displays because it can easily drain your battery.

* They come in various shapes and sizes, and some of the latest models are very stylish.

* Excellent for those who are serious about their games – you can add many customizations including increased power, excellent graphics cards and sound cards.

Disadvantages:

* Not portable. You can’t take it with you.

* Totally dependent on electricity. If there is a power outage, you won’t be able to use it unless you have an alternative power source like a UPS or power generator …

* Not as sleek and modern as laptops and tablets.

Laptop

Although laptops still don’t challenge all the benefits of a desktop computer, the gap will continue to narrow, and for mobile workers, a laptop is the way to go. Whether a laptop can replace a desktop depends on the type of work you do.

Advantage:

* Its number one advantage is its portability. It can be easily transported, making it perfect for those on the go. It is also great for working on the couch, kitchen bench, coffee shop, etc.

* Works with rechargeable batteries. You can still use it even when there is a power outage.

* Elegant and fashionable. They look more attractive compared to desktop computers. They come in different styles and colors.

* Comes in all shapes and sizes … and now in colors so your laptop can be a reflection of your personality.

* Compact design. A laptop saves space. It does not take up a large amount of space unlike a full desktop.

* You can connect external displays, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc., whatever you want.

Disadvantages:

* Increased risk of theft. Compared to a full desktop computer, laptops are more vulnerable to theft. Countless laptops are stolen every day, so you need to be careful.

* While a desktop computer is unlikely to fall off the desk, the same cannot be said for a laptop, which runs the risk of accidentally falling.

* Limited battery life plus battery life deteriorates after prolonged use.

* Not easy to update or repair. Laptops have components that are specifically customized for a particular drive. If one of the components is damaged, you may need to replace the entire laptop.

* The screen resolution may not be of high quality. For high-end graphics work, a laptop’s LCD screen and graphics technology are not a viable alternative to the better color rendering of a large CRT monitor and dedicated graphics card.

* Some people find that the keyboard is not as comfortable and functional as a full keyboard that comes with a desktop PC.

As you can see, desktops and laptops have their own advantages and disadvantages and, in reality, they are also in many ways very similar in their capabilities to the average user. The choice between them would depend on which points are most important to you and what the computer will do for you.
