An overview of new Apple products, including the iPhone 5

2012 is a potential big year for Apple with four exciting new products launching in the coming months. Along with the iPad 3 and the long-awaited iTV, we are also likely to see the launch of the new iPhone 5 along with the new iOS5 operating system that all of these products will use. We take a brief look at what we can expect from these products when they are finally revealed.

It seems likely that Apple will opt to launch the new iPad 3 before the new iPhone 5. This model is the successor to the popular iPad 2 tablet device and is set to pack some great new features. There are a wide variety of tablets available today, however, Apple is the market leader in this area. The new device will feature a completely new screen that will double the resolution offered in the iPad 2. This 9.7-inch screen should be capable of displaying 2048 x 1536 pixels, which means that the model will surpass what all other devices of tablet can bid by pixel density. It is also rumored that this new device will sport the new A6 chipset which will feature a quad-core processor to ensure ultra-fast operating speeds. Later in the year we are expected to see the launch of the first iTV system. Having established great success in the smartphone, tablet, and computer markets, Apple is now turning its attention to launching its first television. The impressive Siri voice-recognition software that was introduced in the iPhone 4S is likely to make an appearance on the TV, as will a touch screen that will let users navigate apps in a similar way to how they do on phones and tablets. Although the size of the screen is not yet known, reports suggest that the first iTV will have a 42-inch screen.

Perhaps Apple’s most anticipated product of 2012 is the iPhone 5. Like the iPad 3, the phone is set to feature an improved display with a higher resolution than what was offered on the iPhone 4S. Once again, it seems likely that the new A6 chipset will be used, which will make the phone one of the first quad-core devices. The phone will also be one of the first phones to be able to connect to high-speed 4G networks that will give users the fastest mobile browsing experience. Apple is also set to release version 5.0.1 of its iOS operating system, which will be used by both the iPhone 5 and iPad 3. Apple made some big changes when it released version 5.0 in September 2011, and it is likely that Updates to this new platform are going to be more subtle. The platform is rumored to be more energy efficient, meaning both models will feature longer battery life. Siri’s voice recognition software will also be updated to allow you to interact with device settings.

2012 is set to be another big year for Apple. The iPhone 5 is the most anticipated product to be released, but the iPad 3 and iTV will also attract a lot of attention in the coming months.
