I often ask myself the question, ‘Why isn’t Belize more popular than it already is?’ This is a difficult question to answer, and there may be some valid reasons why not. This remains one of the top beach destinations you’re likely to find in the Americas. Its coastline is not on the Pacific Ocean, but on the Atlantic Ocean. It has miles and miles of beautiful, long stretches of white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. The relative proximity to the equator also makes temperatures very attractive throughout the year. Imagine sipping the cocktail while sunbathing on the beach…?

Cultural Sites and Attractions

The Mayan civilization is a well known historical civilization and was very advanced for its time period. They left behind all kinds of interesting historical sites and temples that are great opportunities for sightseeing as part of your Belize vacation package. Be sure to include palaces, temples, and other ceremonial centers on your list.

If you’re done with all the tourism and maybe want to take a break from your diving and beach activities, consider heading inland. The forests, rivers and caves have dazzled visitors for many years. Take some time to hike through the forest, where you will see a wide variety of wildlife and especially some colorful and interesting bird species. This is just what you need to spice up your Belize vacation package.

Considering all of these things, it’s quite surprising that Belize isn’t at the top of many travelers’ list of places to visit. On second thought, maybe that’s a good thing. This mere fact has contributed to the idea that many parts of the country have not yet been affected by the commercial influence found in other islands of the world.
