Helmet camera enthusiasts: is the VIO-POV 1.5 for you?

VIO Inc. owes its existence to a company called Viosport.com, which was started in the year 2000. David Ollila was the founder who wanted a quality video camera to make video clips and decided to make his own. As a result, he found himself with a winning product in his hands. Since then, the VIO-POV 1.5 has become a highly sought after helmet cam.

It is, without a doubt, an exceptional product, as evidenced by the fact that it is used by prestigious entertainment organizations and other professionals. These include MTV, Paramount Pictures and the Discovery Channel. VIO camera systems are currently used by the Armed Forces, law enforcement, and security professionals, as well as by industrial and commercial organizations.

Having said all of that, I’m guessing that most of you reading this will be those who play action sports and will already be familiar with the process of shooting their own stunts. Also, you may have questions about the practical design features of the VIO-POV 1.5 that justify the slightly higher cost.

‘POV’, which is short for ‘Point of View’, as the name implies, means that the camera has been designed to be placed virtually anywhere to provide any viewpoint you can imagine. It follows that there are a diverse number of locations and vehicles an enthusiast would want to mount the VIO-POV helmet camera to. Some of them are:

  • Virtually anywhere in any vehicle
  • Various places on a ship
  • Motorcycles, dirt bikes, etc.
  • Mountain bikes
  • Helmets of any description.
  • Any headgear, including soft hats and caps.
  • Sports team
  • Clothing in general plus boots and belts
  • pistols and rifles

A good selection of commonly used mounting aids come standard.

A primary requirement of any top-of-the-line helmet camera is that have to withstand extreme bumps and shocks and prevent the ingress of water, dust, snow, etc. The POV 1.5 meets all of these requirements.

You can strap the wireless remote to your wrist or indeed anywhere you like for one-handed operation. Your remote control also has a liquid crystal diode preview screen so you can see what you’re recording on video, as well as allowing you a little creativity. For example:

  • Mount your camera facing the rear and you can see where your racing competitors are
  • Mount the camera in front of you and facing you, at a distance of approximately 18 to 24 inches and this will allow you to see your facial reactions when performing your action sequences!

There are many more reasons why you might consider investing in POV 1.5, which I list on HiDefHelmetCams, a website dedicated to reviews and discussions of helmet cams only.
