Save money using granite scraps

Natural stones dug in mines and quarries as granite has been a common building material today. Beauty and hardness of these stones makes it a suitable material for housing rehabilitation and construction. However, granite can be quite expensive, with prices can go as high as $ 70 per square foot, excluding installation. Not all homeowners can afford this huge cost. Fortunately, there are granite pieces that are 10 to 70 percent cheaper than their original price. These pieces are actually leftovers and are called granite scraps.

Usually natural granite is cut and diced into slabs. These slabs are commonly used to build kitchen countertops. They are cut higher into smaller parts DEPENDING on the size of the kitchen. During this process, some pieces of granite become too small or do not fit the desired size. The granite scraps are either thrown away by the contractor or manufacturer or sold at a much lower price. If you can’t afford to buy granite slabs, theses leftover pieces may be a good option.

These pieces underwent the same process of production as that of the larger slabs. Theses parts are most likely polished, bright and smooth, have a surface. However, not all these pieces are of good quality, so it is very important to visit the patio stones and choose the good.

You have to choose only the remains that match the focus of your home. This can be difficult because the inventory of remaining pieces of a shop can change from day to day, especially if it is a large workshop. It is also good to talk to the fabrication shop on the availability of granite pieces before starting your project. You have to do this so they know in advance what kind of pieces you want to save. EVEN THOUGH the surface of some parts of these are polished, the edges can still be on the rough side. If that’s the case, you have to ask the manufacturer to polish the edges.

Asking for a discounted price for leftover parts can be easy. Manufacturing workshops usually want to get rid of these pieces and are willing to ofrecértelas at a very low price. Although granite scraps are small pieces that cannot be used for larger projects, such as a regular sized kitchen countertop, they are still workable for smaller projects. These pieces will be the perfect material for building tabletops, dressers, kitchen islands, fireplace surrounds, and many other smaller accessories.
