The amazing benefits of Epsom salts

Epsom salts is the common name for magnesium sulfate, which is a chemical compound that contains magnesium and sulfate. Epsom salts are an affordable and easy way to improve cleanliness and relieve stress. The high magnesium content within Epsom salts helps to draw acids through the skin and is therefore primarily used for bathing.

Epsom salt baths are well known for their surprisingly effective way of relieving pain in the extremities, reducing muscle tension, and are great for helping with back pain. On top of that, they are known to heal cuts, reduce labor pain, and relieve colds and congestion from inside the body.

Stress is a known killer and a common everyday problem. Epsom salts really help to relieve stress from the body, so they are an easy way to reduce stress. The salts absorb magnesium into the body and help relieve stress, as magnesium helps produce serotonin, which elevates mood and creates a pleasant feeling of relaxation.

Epsom salts are primarily used for soaking in the bath, but can also be used as an all-over body scrub when mixed with oil. This helps in the removal of dead skin and helps to promote traffic. They are also really effective when used as a foot bath that relaxes and refreshes your feet and helps eliminate unpleasant odours! They can also be used to exfoliate the face.

How can you use Epsom salts?
It is usual to put 1 or 2 cups in a hot bath and let them soak for 20 minutes. I recommend you freshen up after the bath and go to bed!

For a foot soak, a tablespoon can be used in a bowl or foot bath and again left on the feet for 20 minutes.

For a body detox, mix some salts in your hand with a little olive oil, then massage into the body in the bath or shower. Fabulous…

For a facial: use a teaspoon mixed with a facial cleanser and scrub. Cleanse with water and tone and hydrate as usual.

Can Epsom salts be used during pregnancy?
If you can. Epsom salts are a safe and really effective way to keep yourself free of unwanted toxins during pregnancy. Its nourishing and attracting effect on the body is not in any way harmful to your pregnancy as long as you use safe amounts of salts in your bath. During pregnancy I would recommend 1/2 to 1 cup of salts in a bath once a week. Dry skin brushing is also a very safe and effective way to keep toxins at bay during pregnancy.
